Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions sealed the league by a single point over Liverpool last season, and City will be keenly aware that there is no room for a slow start after that tense title race and their rivals’ thumping win over newly-promoted Norwich on Friday night.

Man City head to east London for what could be a tough test against West Ham, with former manager Manuel Pellegrini building a strong Hammers squad with some solid summer business including the signings of Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller.

Now we know many of you have a blog and Twitter feed at the ready alongside watching the match itself, and here’s how you can do just that!
The match will be televised live on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate, with coverage starting from 12.00pm BST.
Head to Head
City have beaten the Hammers 56 times in total, losing 17 games and drawing the other 17.
The champions have won their last eight games vs West Ham, beating the east Londoners 4-0 away and 1-0 at home last season along with a 4-1 pre-season victory this summer in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
The teams will be announced in just over 15minutes time, but here’s how we expect the sides to line-up today…

West Ham XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Cresswell, Rice, Wilshere, Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals, Haller

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Rodri, De Bruyne, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Aguero, Sterling, live stream, TV channel, line-ups, score prediction.

As we await the team news from the London Stadium, here’s a reminder of the numbers behind West Ham and Man City’s respective campaigns last season.

West Ham vs Man City team news and predicted line-ups

Pellegrini heads into the new season with almost a complete clean bill of health.

Captain Mark Noble misses out with a dead leg, but goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is fit after a groin injury scare. New signings Fornals and Haller should both make their competitive debuts.

As for City, Benjamin Mendy (knee) is out along with Ilkay Gundogan.

Leroy Sane suffered ACL damage against Liverpool in the Community Shield and is expected to miss six or seven months, but Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez are both available.

Sergio Aguero could start up front having been rested at Wembley, especially with Sane set to miss out. £60million signing Joao Cancelo is not yet being considered for selection.

Possible West Ham XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Cresswell, Rice, Wilshere, Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals, Haller

Possible Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Rodri, De Buryne, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Aguero, Sterling

Prediction: West Ham 1-3 Man City

While West Ham will be confident of causing City problems in their first game of the season, it is difficult to look beyond the champions here.

City won 32 of their 38 league games last season, and should pick up three points – but the Hammers will fancy a goal or two.
